Bonsall, St James

Bonsall, St James

With reputedly the highest chancel in England, the climb from the nave to the chancel gives a real sense of rising up to worship God. The 13th century stone built church stands in a prominent position overlooking the village. It has a fine tower surrounded by crowns and gargoyles and is surmounted by a splendid spire. The church has had many additions and extensions throughout the centuries with much of the exterior being rebuilt in 1862.

The annual Well Dressing and Carnival take place the last weekend of July.
