Heritage open day - John Wright MRCS
10am - 4 pm
On Saturday, 15th Sptember, the church will be open for visits and there will also be Church records to view and a display about the life of John Wright MRCS, a local lad, son of a Stenson farmer who made a successful career as a surgeon at the Derbyshire General Infirmary between 1813 and 1849.
His tomb is is Twyford churchyard. Surgery then was very different from today: no anesthetics, no disinfectants.
